The primary role of the Core Team is to design, oversee and integrate the work of the Achieving the Dream teams across the University of Hawai'i system. The core team develops and manages a process for institution-wide dialog about Achieving the Dream data findings, goals and strategies. The team works with, and through the institution councils, departments and divisions to adopt priorities for improving student success, particularly for under-served populations.
Originally formed as a separate team, the Core Team has been merged with the Data Team to ensure broader discussions and planning. Operating on the basis of a "culture of inquiry and evidence," the team has a role in 1) identifying data and information needed to inform the work of the team, 2) recognizing gaps in student achievement, 3) critically examining efforts to close the gaps, 4) suggesting revised or new approaches to foster student success, and 5) communicating the work of the team to the college community.
