Degree and Certificate Programs

For those with culinary dreams of opening their own restaurants, managing a five-star hotel foodservice operations, or creating masterful cuisines of epicurean proportions, the Culinary Institute of the Pacific offers the best educational pathway in which to achieve your culinary and academic goals.

The Culinary Institute of the Pacific is a statewide array of culinary arts programs offered at the University of Hawai'i Community Colleges. The associate in science degree and certificate programs in culinary arts at the various community college campuses are fully accredited by the American Culinary Federation of America, and articulated with advanced degrees offered at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond. These programs have earned local, national and international recognition for its exceptional faculty, quality curricula and outstanding achievements.

Convention, bringing home the Gold medal to Hawaiʻi for the first time. Since then, the Culinary Institute of the Pacific continues to produce winning teams of culinary excellence in local and national competitions.

The advanced degrees and professional level training will be offered at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head upon completion of its new facility, which is targeted for a Spring 2017 opening.

These new advanced degree college credentials include:

Advanced Professional Certificate - Culinary Arts (Currently offered at Kapi'olani Community College, Culinary Institute of the Pacific.)

Bachelor of Applied Science with a Concentration in Culinary Management (Degree to be conferred by University of Hawai'i - West Oʻahu through an articulation agreement with Kapiʻolani Community College.)

Bachelor of Science in Food Science & Human Nutrition with a Culinology Option (Degree to be conferred by University of Hawai'i at Mānoa with an articulation agreement with Kapi'olani Community College.)


The Culinary Institute of the Pacific offers contracted, hands-on custom programming for groups of 10 or more. These customized programs are designed to meet the professional development needs of the food, beverage, and hospitality industry. The best place to learn about food, wine and Hawaii Regional Cuisine is at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Diamond Head. Once the new facility is completed, plans are to offer culinary boot camps, cooking and wine classes, demonstrations and tasting events, as well as culinary tasting tours of our local eateries.

Classes are now being offered at various community colleges as noncredit enrichment classes. Search for a class that sparks your interest.
