Associate in Arts degree requirements for Honolulu CC

Written Communication 3 credits: Eng 100
Focus designated courses 3 semester courses: 1 in each area:
Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Issues (H) or (HCC-H)
Ethical Issues (HCC-E)
Oral Communications (HCC-O)
Foreign Language -
Symbolic Reasoning 3 credits: Math 100 or higher or Phil 110 or Quantitative Methods 121 or higher
Global and Multicultural Perspectives 2 courses, one from each group- Group A: Anthropology 151, 152
- Group B: History 151, 152
Writing Intensive (*W) 2 writing intensive courses with grades of "C" or higher. Only 1 English Writing Intensive with the exception of ENG 209 may be used to satisfy this requirement.
Applied Studies -
Humanities 2 semester courses: 1 from each of 2 of the following 3 groups:
Group 1 (The Arts)
Group 2 (Humanities)
Group 3 (Literature and Language)
Natural Sciences 2 semester courses including 1 with lab, 1 from each of Group 1 (Biological Science) and Group 2 (Physical Science).
Social Sciences 2 semester courses from 2 different disciplines.
