Program Information

There are two categories for students within the Ka'ie'ie program

Ka'ie'ie Joiner Ka'ie'ie Transfer
Plan to complete a bachelor's at Manoa, but is not yet ready to transfer Accepted into Ka'ie'ie as a joiner, and

Your participating UH system campus is your home campus.

In Kai'ie'ie for at least one semester.

Allowed to take classes at UHM should you choose. Ready to transfer to Manoa and make it your home campus (with or without the AA/AS degree).

General Timeline

Fall

apply by Oct 1st for Spring Admission

Spring

Attend a participating UH system campus as home campus (can take a UHM course if desired)

Fall

eligible to transfer to UHM (application due the semester before transfer)

Spring

apply by Mar 1st for Fall Admission

Fall

Attend a participating UH system campus as home campus (can take a UHM course if desired)

Spring

eligible to transfer to UHM (application due the semester before transfer)

Remaining in Ka'ie'ie

To remain eligible for Ka'ie'ie you must:

  • Register for at least 1 credit each semester at a participating UH system campus
  • Maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA and remain in good standing at both campuses
  • Maintain the minimum credits at your participating UH system campus in order to receive financial aid
  • Understand that all scholarships, financial aid, and residency is through your participating UH system campus until you transfer

Funding

If you are receiving funding from Financial Aid, Veteran’s Affairs, or scholarship organizations, please contact these offices at your home campus to understand how your funding will impact:

  • Dual Enrollment (taking classes at both campuses)
  • Transferring to UHM
