Helpful Tips to Get You on the Ka’ie’ie Degree Pathway

1. The first step is to join Ka’ie’ie by submitting an Ka’ie’ie Application Form to your Ka’ie’ie Coordinator.
   
   
2. Once you are a Ka’ie’ie member:
• Meet first with a Ka’ie’ie Coordinator to create an academic plan. Thereafter, meet with an advisor/counselor every semester to update your plan and stay on track. Academic advising for Ka’ie’ie students is mandatory; remember that the goal is to help you graduate on time.
• Contact the undergraduate advisor/counselor of your intended major and remain in regular contact with your major department.
• Obtain a Ka’ie’ie ID card and have it validated at both campuses.
• When you pay your tuition, choose to pay student activity fees at both campuses if you would like to take advantage of full benefits.
  
  
3. Continue to complete the courses on your plan while maintaining good academic standing, and remember to meet with your Ka’ie’ie Coordinator or academic advisor/counselor at least once each semester.
   
   
4. When you are ready to transfer to UHM:
• Meet with a Ka’ie’ie Coordinator to update your academic plan and sign the Ka’ie’ie Application Form.
• Be sure to meet with your Ka’ie’ie Coordinator well before the transfer deadlines (see deadlines)!
• Register online for your UHM courses at the designated time for a ontinuing UHM student. The registration timetable is available through your MyUH website.
  
  
5. Before you begin your first semester at UHM, meet with UHM’s Ka’ie’ie Coordinator and, if possible, with your college and major advisors to review your plan, discuss your life and career goals, and learn about the campus and your major department.
   
   
6. Remember that academic advising at UHM is mandatory! Remember to meet with your college or major advisor every semester.
