In support of UH innovation agenda and the state’s economic planning target for significant growth in STEM-related jobs, the UH Community College System has committed to increasing the number of STEM graduates in STEM-related degrees and certificates, as well as increasing the number of UHCC transfers to baccalaureate STEM programs. Strategic tactics, such as creating purposeful academic pathways, utilizing meta majors and establishing the associate in science in natural science (ASNS) degree, contributed to the overall increase of STEM graduates and transfers.
In coordination with the University of Hawai’i Office of STEM Education, the UHCC has strengthened its STEM academic pathways
and commitment to promoting STEM student success in Hawai’i.
