UHCC Strategic Directions recognizes that students learn best when they are taught in an environment that is clean, safe, and well maintained, that is designed and equipped to meet the modern standards of faculty and industry, and that enables and takes advantage of high-speed digital technology. To ensure the best teaching and learning environments for our faculty and students, a taskforce was formed to address three different components of the ideal learning environment:
Instructional Classrooms, Laboratories, and Support Facilities
Capital Equipment Replacement
High-Speed Digital Infrastructure
The taskforce will identify gaps and shortfalls that may exist between the current and the desired learning environments, review/evaluate standards that should apply to current spaces, establish identify which improvements may require major renovations versus lower-cost solutions, and assess internal digital networks to assure high-speed connectivity to teaching and learning spaces. A plan will then be used to map out planned renovations and improvements across the campuses. The above chart displays the Minor CIP project allocations for the renovations and improvements made to classrooms and facilities.
