Aeronautics Maintenance
The Aeronautics Maintenance program is housed in a state-of-the-art facility near the Honolulu International Airport, and is an approved aviation maintenance technician training facility operating under the Federal Aviation Administration’s Air Agency Certificate No. DI9T087R with Airframe, Power Plant, and combined Airframe and Power Plant ratings. It is the only such program in the Pacific Basin.

Applied Trades
The Applied Trades program provides students who are in a state or federally approved apprenticeship program with the opportunity to attain an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science. If you are enrolled in a State of Hawai’i or Federally approved apprenticeship program or approved Pearl Harbor Cooperative Education Training Sequence may be eligible for this program.

Architectural, Engineering and CAD Technologies (AEC)
The AEC program is designed to prepare you for employment as an architectural or engineering CAD operator. You will be prepared for employment in computer modeling, building construction, interior design drawing, construction supervision and other fields. Or you may want to continue your education and apply your course credits toward a bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering. Course work includes drafting and design fundamentals, construction materials and methods, architectural working drawings, architectural graphics, 3D architectural modeling, rendering and animation, and civil and structural engineering drawing, and more.

AutoCAD
Designers using AutoCAD prepares precision drawings for architecture, engineering, surveying and construction businesses. The program is designed to provide you with job skills for the local marketplace.

Auto Body Repair and Painting
The Auto Body Repair and Painting program is based on standards established by the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and prepares you for entry-level employment in the auto body repair trade. Instruction covers principles on the repair of auto body sheet metal and the application of body fillers and color coatings.

Automotive Mechanics Technology
The Automotive Mechanics Technology program is a program based on standards specified by NATEF. The program prepares individuals for a career as an automotive technician. There are a number of related jobs within the industry, such as auto shop service writer, service station technician, new car dealer technician, independent garage technician, commercial fleet technician, used car technician, truck line and specialty shop technician.

Building Maintenance
The Building Maintenance program has multiple purposes. It prepares you in general building maintenance of large or small structures. It serves to acquaint you with various building trades should you desire to explore different trades prior to selecting a specialization.

Carpentry is one of the basic trades in the construction field. Entrance into this trade is usually obtained through serving a four-year apprenticeship. The Carpentry program prepares you for a career in construction and provides a good foundation for an apprenticeship program.

Commercial Aviation
The Commercial Aviation program is a five-semester program of study that prepares you for a career as a pilot for charter and tour services, cargo and transport services, and flight instruction. In addition to the classroom curriculum, you will log up to 250 hours of flight time. The associate’s degree in commercial aviation is transferable to four-year programs, leading to a bachelor’s degree in commercial aviation.

Computing Electronics and Networking Technology (CENT)
The demand for experts in computing, electronics and networking technologies is outpacing the supply of qualified professionals. Graduates are quickly recruited for employment by businesses and industries requiring such skilled professionals. Today’s technicians need to have a broad base of electronic theory and hands-on experience to design and repair computer systems. This two-year program of study prepares you for transfer to a four-year institution or employment in the electronics and computing industries.

This program is designed to provide you with knowledge of heavy-duty truck engines and chassis components and to develop your proficiency in the repair and maintenance of heavy-duty truck equipment.

Drafting Technology
This program prepares you for immediate employment as an architectural or engineering drafter. You may use this program to prepare for employment in building construction, interior design drafting, construction supervision, surveying, and other fields. Or, you may continue your education towards a bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering. Both the architectural and engineering options emphasize drafting fundamentals and construction materials and methods.

Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology (ECET)
The Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology program offers you a course of study leading to a certificate in Electronic Engineering Technology or an Associate in Science degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering Technology. Electronic technicians are trained to apply principles of digital and microprocessor technology, industrial control interfaces, amplifier circuits, and development and reading of control logic and schematics. Laboratories provide hands-on training utilizing the latest equipment related to electronics and used in the industry.

Electrical Installation and Maintenance Technology
This program combines theory with laboratory activities to develop the skills essential for the electrical trade. You’ll learn the fundamentals of electricity and wiring of simple circuits, then progress to residential interior wiring, three phase alternating current power, and wiring of more complex circuits and equipment. The curriculum is designed to prepare you for entry level in the electrical industry.

This program provides experiences that will enable you to master job tasks requiring entry-level skills in the electronics industry. This program is structured to prepare you with the skills necessary to enter a number of occupations within the electronics technology cluster.

Facilities Engineering Technology or Facilities Management
The Facilities Engineering Technology and the Facilities Maintenance programs are specifically designed to prepare students with the basic entry-level skills necessary to enter the building maintenance occupation for employment with major hotels, condominiums, and other large facilities. Windward Community College’s Employment Training Center also offers a similar program called Facilities Maintenance and Construction.

Industrial Education
This is a coordinated undergraduate program of preparation for Industrial Arts teachers established between the UH Manoa’s College of Education and Honolulu Community College. Graduates may transfer to the UHM College of Education to complete general education, professional education and teaching field requirements for the bachelor’s degree.

Networking: Basic and Advanced
These certificates provide you with a strong foundation in networking and data communications that is not vendor specific and trains entry-level network specialists who can become certified by the National Association of Communication Systems Engineers (NACSE). The Basic Networking Certificate consists of 15 credits of classes while the Advanced Networking Certificate is an additional 12 credits of training and prepares students for certification as Senior Network Specialists.

The Small Vessel Fabrication and Repair program prepares you for employment in the marine service and manufacturing industries. Learn to become a marine diesel maintenance and repair specialist, marine electricity and electronics technician, marine mechanic or boat maintenance and repair specialist.

Machine, Welding and Industrial Mechanics Technology
This program prepares you for employment in the metalworking and mechanical/maintenance trades. Employment may be in construction, food processing, manufacturing, utilities, astronomical observatories, or related industries. Job responsibilities may include fabricating, repairing, or maintaining metal products on equipment, buildings and systems. Training is given in both theory and practical skills in the various phases of welding and cutting.

Welding Technology
There’s more than you think to a career in welding. For most part, a welder uses an electric arc or a gas flame to melt metal to join pieces together. However, the field of welding has grown to highly sophisticated machines to join and fabricate a variety of materials. Welding is one of the remaining crafts to be used in construction and manufacturing and is dependent on the knowledge and skill of the welder. Employment may also be found in food processing, utilities, astronomical observatories, or related industries.
