Academic Year 2017 – 2018 in Niigata, Japan

The University of Hawai'i Community Colleges (UHCC) is offering students a unique opportunity to study Japanese language and culture at the University of Niigata Prefecture (UNP). Located in Higashi-ku in Niigata Prefecture, UNP is a public university fully accredited by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. UNP opened in April 2009 and operates as a local independent administrative institution (public university corporation). The university is comprised of two faculties: Faculty of International Studies and Regional Development and Faculty of Human Life Studies, and admits approximately 240 students per year. With approximately 1,141 students, UNP established an international exchange center upon its opening in 2009. Under our student exchange agreement, UHCC students pay their UHCC home campus full-time (12 credit) tuition and attend UNP tuition-free.
