Up to 500 scholarships for a free UHCC class

The University of Hawaii Community Colleges (UHCC) are announcing the new Kūlia Scholarship for Fall 2020. For Hawaii residents whose employment situations have changed due to COVID, the scholarship will support them in striving toward completing a college degree to pursue new directions.

Up to 500 scholarships for a free UHCC class will be awarded to Hawaii residents who are furloughed or laid off from their full-time job because of COVID.

Students must apply for UHCC and for the Kūlia scholarship by August 10.

Award: Scholarship will cover the cost of a three credit UHCC class, fees and books (up to $100 at UH bookstore). Value of approximately $500.

HOW TO APPLY

Kūlia Scholarship Application

Eligible recipients:

  • Hawaii residents
  • Currently furloughed or laid off from a full time job in Hawai'i because of COVID impacts (since March 2020) or have documented furlough or lay off for Fall 2020 (August - December).
  • Must submit an application to be a UHCC student for Fall 2020. Priority for those who are pursuing first degree or industry-recognized certificate (credit programs).
  • Must submit an application for Kūlia scholarship.
  • Not attended UH recently (last attended prior to Fall 2018), including those who have never attended college.
