HINET Program: Workforce Education and Training Support
Welcome to the HINET Ho‘ola Ike (gift of knowledge) program.
University of Hawai'i Community Colleges, in partnership with the State of Hawai'i Department of Human Services, has created a new program to deliver assistance and support for college and workforce training.
The SNAP Employment and Training program is a state and federally funded program that is designed to help remove barriers and provide students with access to education and skills training opportunities so they can earn a living wage and achieve financial independence.
Are You Eligible?
Program eligibility criteria to qualify for the HINET program:
- Currently receiving or eligible to receive SNAP through Dept. of Human Services (DHS)
- Enrolled in a vocational, professional technical non-transfer degree or certificate program
- Enrolled at a University of Hawai'i Community College at a minimum of 6 credit hours (part-time) or in an approved noncredit workforce training program or 3 credit hours in a basic education course
- Not receiving TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families)

Services
Students can save over $5,350 a year if enrolled for both fall and spring semesters.
Student savings each semester: $2,675

SNAP Food Assistance (avg. $375/month): $1,875
Reimbursement for books and supplies (uniforms, tools, etc.): $300
Reimbursement for bus pass or gas (up to $100/month): $500
