The University of Hawai'i Community Colleges offer a variety of associate degree and certificate options that provide affordable career advancement opportunities that can transform your future.
Research from the U.S. Census Bureau show over a lifetime, adults with just a high school diploma earn an average of $1.2 million, while those with an associate degree earn $1.6 million. However, depending on the industry and its growth potential, that $400,000 difference could actually go much higher for some community college graduates.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Are 18 years of age or older, OR
- Have earned a high school diploma, GED or equivalency
Deadlines:
Generally, the community colleges application deadlines are:
- August 9 for the Fall Semester
- December 15 for the Spring Semester
However, the application deadlines for general college admission, international students and selective admission programs may vary at each community college. We recommend that you check the individual college’s website for details.
Steps to Enroll:
- Complete the UH System Application to the community college of your choice.
- If you are a Hawai'i resident, it is free to apply. For non-Hawai'i residents, the application fee is $25.
- Submit official high school transcript, GED documentation, or official transcripts from current college for course placement or transfer credits if required.
- If you have Advanced Placement (AP) or College Level Examination Program (CLEP) scores and want to receive college credits, you may submit your test scores.
Don't Forget To:
- Complete the FAFSA® to qualify for Financial Aid and the Hawai'i Promise Scholarship.
- Schedule appointment with an academic advisor at your campus.
Important Health Requirements:
The State of Hawai‘i Department of Health (DOH), the Hawai‘i Administrative Rules, and Chapter 11-157 requires all students to meet health requirements before they attend any postsecondary institution in the State of Hawai‘i.
All college students are to be free of:
- Tuberculosis (TB)
- Tetanus-diphtheria-pertussis (Tdap)
- Varicella (chickenpox) and
- Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)
Your Department of Health (DOH) immunization records should be submitted to the college admission office prior to registration of classes.
You may be accepted to college without clearance, but you will not be able to register classes until your clearance documents are received.
