Student Affairs


The Student Affairs office works collaboratively with the student affairs leaders on each campus on continuous review and improvement of policies and processes towards advancing student development and success. The office coordinates and guides this group towards reducing barriers for entry, increasing access to college, and providing support to enhance student retention and completion for all students.

Centralized Financial Aid

The UHCC Centralized Financial Aid Office advocates for consistent policies and procedures to ensure equitable financial aid practices across the UHCC system.

Hawaiʻi Promise Scholarship

The Hawaiʻi Promise Scholarship program provides financial assistance for qualified University of Hawaiʻi Community College students. Hawaiʻi Promise covers direct education costs—including tuition, fees, and an allowance for books and supplies. The program is funded annually by UH and the State of Hawaiʻi and was established by state leaders through appropriations starting in the 2017 legislative session.

UHCC/UHF System Scholarships

The University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges offers a variety of scholarship opportunities to students attending any of the seven UHCC campuses. Scholarships available include need and merit-based awards, scholarships based on specific majors, preference for geographic location, campus and other unique criteria.

Student Basic Needs

The UHCC System supports student success by ensuring basic needs security for all students. Basic needs include access to food and housing, clothing, childcare, mental health, financial resources and transportation.

HINET (SNAP E&T)

University of Hawaiʻi Community Colleges in partnership with the State of Hawaiʻi Department of Human Services delivers assistance and support for college and workforce training. The SNAP Employment and Training program is a state and federally funded program that is designed to help remove barriers and provide students with access to education and skills training opportunities so they can earn a living wage and achieve financial independence.

Bridge to Hope (First to Work/TANF)

Bridge to Hope (BTH) is a nationally recognized, model partnership between the University of Hawaiʻi and the State Dept. of Human Services (DHS) supporting post-secondary education as a means for TANF recipients to achieve life-long economic self-sufficiency, leaving not only welfare but also poverty. Students are eligible for on-campus employment and other basic needs services to help students succeed.
