Professional Development Programs
UHCC Online Teaching hosts professional development programs and workshops for UHCC faculty and staff. These programs and sessions cover topics such as best practices for online teaching, methods for integrating third-party tools, and guidance on using learning management systems to create effective and accessible online courses.
Online Teaching Excellence (OTE)
The UHCC Online Teaching Excellence (OTE) Program is a professional development opportunity for faculty currently teaching online or planning to teach online at any UHCC campus. The program consists of three phases: Design, Develop, and Review.
Course Design is the first part in a three-phase professional development program, collaboratively developed and facilitated by instructional design professionals from UHCC campuses and the UHCC system. The primary focus of this phase is to guide its participants through the design of an online course.

Modality
OTE Phase 1 was a self-paced, online asynchronous course that was taught in Laulima. Future iterations of OTE Phase 1 will be taught in Lamakū.
Who can participate
Any UHCC full-time faculty or lecturer.
Course Development is the second part in a three-phase professional development program, collaboratively developed and facilitated by instructional design professionals from UHCC campuses and the UHCC system.Participants will learn how to use Lamakū, discover best practices for utilizing its features, and begin developing a course to prepare for the Spring 2025 semester.

OTE Phase 2 is an online asynchronous course that will be facilitated in Lamakū.
Who can participate
- Any UHCC full-time faculty or lecturer
- Priority will be given to those who
- finished OTE Phase 1 or OCDR Phase 1,
- completed a course map for an online or hybrid course as a part of another professional development program, or
- will teach an online or hybrid course the following semester
Course Review & Revise is the third part in a three-phase professional development program, collaboratively developed and facilitated by instructional design professionals from UHCC campuses and the UHCC system. This phase will facilitate having online courses iteratively reviewed and revised in the new UH LMS. The review will be based on the UH Online Quality Standard Rubric.
