UHCC Policy 9.237-A4

9.237 - Appendix 4: Campus Governance Leadership

Faculty members elected to campus governance positions have the responsibility to carry out the duties of reviewing, assessing, recommending, and acting on issues of policy and procedures established by the Board of Regents and/or UH System Leadership pertaining to the mission of their respective campuses. Not all members of the related governance organizations are granted teaching equivalencies.

Each campus shall determine the number of teaching equivalencies to be granted within the following ranges:

  1. Faculty Senate Leadership, from 6 to 12 teaching equivalencies per academic year
  2. Curriculum Committee Leadership, from 4 to 12 teaching equivalencies per academic year
  3. Other Governance Groups Leadership, from 6 to 12 teaching equivalencies per academic year

The allocation of the teaching equivalencies within the Campus Governance Leadership shall be left to the individual campus governance groups. Fractional equivalencies are permitted.

If an 11-month faculty member serves as a campus governance leader and cannot receive non-instructional teaching equivalencies, they will receive a $500 monthly stipend for the academic year (9 months) to compensate for the additional workload.
